Just had this conversation with somebody on here earlier.....how did we ever function with out our phones....lol. hell I road in a friends car the other day and had to roll my window up with a crank! What the hell!

Don't let your granny bullshit you that black buggy had wheels painted red with yellow spokes ( the in thing back then ) and of course the horse had blue ribbons braided in his tail . When I was younger we had a party line with two or three other people until they did away with that in the towns they had gotten past party lines by 1963 but the people that lived in the country was not as important as the city folks . But that don't mean that the operators didn't rule the roust . Back in 1979 my twin brother had moved off and got a job with Ma bell and for some reason he had to place a call back to Denver where he lived . He was trying to get the operator to put the charges to his work account and she wasn't buying any of that shit . It ended with him reading the by laws of the company and she hung up on him . So of course he had to call her back and straighten her out on a thing or two . Well this time not only did she hang up on him she turned my phone off . My brother looked so silly standing there with the phone in his hand with a dead connection saying " She can't do that " I had to go to the store near me and ask her to turn the phone back on . She said she would but only if I promised to keep my brother away from it or she would termite me permanently .

Yeah, I heard of those. You could listen in on your neighbors conversations. It wasn't ideal, but I bet people spent way less time on the damn phone.

I think it has to be difficult for teachers nowadays, there's so many distractions. One of the young ladies I used to babysit is a teacher. She makes everyone turn in their phones at the beginning of class. Stuffs them in her drawer, and gives them back after it's over. I think it's ingenious. Live life to it's fullest! It's difficult to keep up with a specias that is changing as fast as our is. In general our education system is moving away from testing students for rote knowledge, since that is available 24/7 in the palm of your hand.
